Botulinum toxin Type A uses the toxin produced by the bacteria responsible for Botulism food poisoning. However the dosage of toxin used is minimal and generally well tolerated in clinical trails. Type A is a natural occurring bacterial protein. Tiny doses are injected just under the skin into muscles which allow facial dynamic expressions, this repetition with age causes wrinkles to be visible on movement and on rest. The toxin temporarily relaxes the muscles responsible for developing facial lines. There are a number of trade named toxins substances on the market.
Azzalure ®, Bocouture ® and Botox ® are brands of Botulinum toxins that are licensed for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabella lines, the vertical lines seen when frowning and lines commonly known as crows feet under the age of 65 years.
Results normally takes an average of 2 to 3 days to begin to work, although it may take longer depending on the strength of your facial muscles and the individual persons response to the injection. The severity of the lines may be reduced up to 3 to 5 months.
Potential side Effects:
With all prescription medications a risk of side effects is possible although generally not everyone experiences any. Reactions are usually minimal, temporary. Slight discomfort at needle entry site with possibility of bruising. Some people experience a headache especially when first used.
